Junior Alex Yang will represent Starr’s Mill in mathematics.

“I asked for some advice, and I was told [what the GHP judges] were looking for, [what] to work on, and things I should look into,” Yang said.

Yang credits his father for teaching him how to learn mathematics.

“[My dad] is an engineer,” Yang said. “It was natural for him to teach me math at a young age, starting me on the path I’m on now.”

Yang’s career pathway will be related to STEM. Yang plans on studying anything with calculations and modeling using mathematics.

Yang has received multiple other awards in math, including the Outstanding Accelerated Geometry and Algebra II Award, Outstanding Precalculus Award, and other individual awards at math competitions.

Yang enjoys practicing piano and playing video games in his free time.
