Jeers
December 1, 2021
Jeers to the short amount of time we get in between Thanksgiving break and exams. Who thought it was a good idea to give students only two weeks of instructions after a week off? We all know that half of our knowledge goes out the window any time we get a break.
Jeers to everything in the air right now. It seems like everywhere you look someone has a cold, or is trying to tame their hair due to all the static. Do not even get us started on how dry and crusty everyone’s skin is right now.
Jeers to getting too old for childhood Christmas traditions. This past week a sad moment happened. My mother handed me our family Elf on the Shelf and said it was my turn to hide it every day for my younger siblings. While to some this might feel like a rite of passage, for others this feels like the final nail in the coffin of childhood.
Jeers to the stress of hosting family for the holidays. We all have that one great aunt who never seems to get the hint that it is time to leave, or that cousin who thinks it is fun to stick their fingers into the mashed potatoes. While it is nice to see everyone, it sure is a relief when they go home (except for that great aunt who never leaves and is probably still hanging out in the kitchen telling boring family stories).
Jeers to our senior cheerleaders not getting a final home football game. After these past four years of hard work and dedication, it really is disappointing not to get this final moment on the sidelines since the state competition was the next morning.
Jeers to those people who tell you that “others have it worse,” when you are complaining about something. We all know there are children dying, Kourtney, but right now I am upset and you are not making me feel any better.
Jeers to working over the holidays. While the money is nice and all, having to deal with all the crazy Black Friday shoppers, or worse the people who miss the Black Friday sale but still want the discount, is just not worth it.
