Halestorm
For as long as I can remember, Halestorm was always a big name in the rock industry. I never really knew much about the band until quarantine hit. I found myself shamelessly listening to the band for days at a time.
What drew me into Halestorm was the vocals. Vocalist and rhythm guitarist Lzzy Hale has the most impressive vocal range out of any singer I have ever heard. The things she can do with her voice are nothing short of ridiculous.
Hale is capable of not only casually belting in songs, but she is also capable of full-blown screaming. Here is the thing about Lzzy Hale’s screaming — she can go up in her register while screaming and do it smoothly, which is something that most singers cannot do.
When I say go up in her register, I mean she starts off with almost a low growl and builds up the scream into a high note that almost sounds like a guitar. Very few singers are able to do that, and even fewer are able to do it well.
In Halestorm’s 2011 EP “ReAnimate,” the band released a cover of Skid Row’s hit song “Slave to the Grind.” “Slave to the Grind” is a perfect example of Hale’s insane vocal range. She maintains the gritty rock sound throughout the entire song whilst also showing off her outstanding belting range.
Aside from being a powerful woman for young girls to look up to, Lzzy Hale is also a member of the LGBTQ+ community. In October of 2014, Hale came out as bisexual on her Twitter account.
Lzzy Hale is an amazing role model for young girls everywhere. There is nothing “traditional” about her, which is a huge compliment. Hale is able to stand out among the crowd, showing young girls it is okay to be different from society’s standard image of how women should behave.
