After serving as the head coach of the softball team for 20 years, Mark Williamson has decided to step down. His career record as head coach stands at 429-230-4. The team has made it to the state championship seven times and placed as the runner-up twice in 2003 and 2020.

Senior midfielder Jacqueline Broderick celebrates with her team after scoring a goal against the Northview Titans last Tuesday. In the A-AAAAA semifinals, the Lady Panthers hosted Northview where the Panthers won 12-11 in a close contest to make it to the state championship for the third year in a row. Broderick racked up three goals, an assist, and three ground ball controls. She and senior midfielders Jessica DeLuca and Addie McDaniel all had hat tricks.

Starr’s Mill hosted the 9th Annual AT&T Panther Invitational meet, where over 40 high school teams across the state came to compete. The varsity boys’ team placed eighth while the varsity girls placed sixth. “Not our best performance, but there were some highlights,” Smith said.

Starr’s Mill fans watch from the outfield as the Lady Panthers play Northside. Through the month of August into September, spectators have had to follow several rules and regulations implemented by the GHSA and the county. As football approaches, the school has laid out several rules to follow throughout the season to slow the spread of COVID-19. These regulations include less seating and adjustments to the student section.
