Junior Mary Ellis Goins takes a shot on goal and scores. Goins contributed three goals and one assist to the Lady Panthers’ win over the Holy Innocents Episcopal Bears in the first round of the state playoffs. The Panthers play tonight at 5:30 p.m. against Blessed Trinity in the semifinals.

The new nature trail begins behind the left side of the student parking lot.

A bridge connects across a small reservoir close to the back of the parking lot.

The nature trail ends where the student parking lot and Panther Path connect.

A gate at the end of the bridge allows students to observe the pond more closely.

Bea Dorsey and her husband, parents of SMHS alumni Ben and Steven, walk their dog Ollie after finding out about the trail.

A pole at the end of the bridge will soon host a nature camera to observe the beavers living in the pond.

The bridge dead-ends at Beaver Pond behind the high school.

An extended bridge leads walkers over the wetlands and ends at Beaver Pond.

The first bridge in the Beaver Pond nature trail allows students to walk over the reservoir directly behind the student parking lot.

Homecoming King Storey Mizzell and Queen Emma Wernecke give the Team 11 Alive sign together after the halftime ceremonies at Starr's Mill High School. The Panthers defeated Morrow 55-8. Check back for more stories and photos of all Homecoming activities.
