Tim Monihan and Farmers Insurance recognize senior boys varsity soccer player Andrew Schmidt as the third Player of the Week for the spring sports season.
“Not only am I a leader, a captain of the team, but I feel as if I propel [the team] to a level with my play style,” Schmidt said.
Schmidt plays center back. His consistency and leadership helped him earn Player of the Week.
“He’s played so many minutes as a defender for us,” boys soccer head coach Aaron Buck said. “He’s really solidified our team defensively to help us win a lot of games.”
Boys soccer is currently 5-5 overall, 4-0 in region play. They recently defeated Harris County 2-1 to remain undefeated in region play. Starr’s Mill and Northside are the two remaining unbeaten teams in Region 3-AAAA.
Both varsity soccer teams travel to Pace Academy tonight. The girls game begins at 6 p.m., and the boys game will follow.
