Tim Monihan and Farmers Insurance recognize junior Kendra Ivaska as the second Player of the Week of the spring sports season.

“I think we’ve had a really strong start to region play, and I’m surrounded by a bunch of great teammates,”  Ivaska said. “I’ve also been able to contribute and score lots of goals, so it’s been a fun start.”

Ivaska had eight goals and one assist last week in the team’s wins against Whitewater and Central Carrollton. She has 16 goals on the season through eight games.

“She drives to always do the very best she can,” head coach John Bowen said. “She’s like a little shark out on the field, trying to snatch a goal wherever she can get a hold of it.”

Starr’s Mill girls soccer is currently 4-4 and 2-0 in region play. They recently defeated Whitewater 3-0, Central Carrollton 10-0, and Griffin 12-0.

Both varsity soccer teams host Mundy’s Mill tonight. The girls game begins at 6 p.m. and the boys game follows.
