Tim Monihan and Farmers Insurance recognize sophomore basketball player Tyler Griffin as the 10th Player of the Week for the winter sports season.

“The team is doing good,” Griffin said. “I had a good couple stretch of games.”

Griffin had 19 points on February 11 against Mundy’s Mill. He scored a career-high 26 points against McIntosh the next night.

“Tyler had a phenomenal week last week for us,” head coach Josh Reeves said. “It was such a huge performance for him as a sophomore. He really stepped up and just showed all those things we expect him to do all the time.”

During the McIntosh game on February 12, Griffin hit seven 3-pointers. The team finished the regular season 13-12 overall and 4th in the region.

Last night, the team defeated Central Carrollton to advance to the Region 3-AAAA championship. The Panthers play Jonesboro for the region title tonight at 8:30 p.m. hosted at Jonesboro High School.
