Tim Monihan and Farmers Insurance recognize senior Evan Bartek as the 20th Player of the Week for the fall sports season.
“I just love being with my friends,” Bartek said. “It’s like a brotherhood.”
Bartek had two interceptions in last week’s state playoff win against Mays High School, 32-24. The Panther defense held Mays to 285 yards of total offense and had three interceptions and forced one fumble.
“He’s very smart. He’s well prepared,” head coach David Cooper said. “He’s all you want wrapped up in a linebacker.”
This season Bartek has had three interceptions. He is part of a Panther defense that is holding opponents to 236.6 yards of total offense per game and forcing an average of 2.2 turnovers per game.
Starr’s Mill travels to Cartersville tonight for the second round of state playoffs. Cartersville is currently 11-0 on the season and defeated Westminster last week, 37-22.
