Tim Monihan and Farmers Insurance recognize senior swimmer Braeden Roach as the first Player of the Week for the winter sports season.
“At practice and at meets especially, we have a good group of new swimmers,” Roach said. “I try to go out of my way to help them, and make sure they get to the races or relays. If they need any advice or tips, I’ll help them out.”
While Roach performed well at the team’s past meet, the reason he was chosen was his leadership. He shows his teammates support as well as tries to encourage and help them.
“[Braeden] is a great teammate,” head coach Derek Abrams said. “He definitely loves cheering on other swimmers and helps to lift up and try to help others.”
At the last meet, Roach performed well, swimming in both the 200 medley relay where he placed second and winning the 400 freestyle relay. He has already earned state times in six events.
The team will compete at the Thankful to Swim meet at Adairsville High School on November 16.
