Tim Monihan and Farmers Insurance recognize junior running back Blake Turner as the eighth Player of the Week for the fall sports season.

“I’m very honored,” Turner said. “When Potter got taken out, I got a lot more reps, and [it] allowed me to show everybody what I could do.”

In last week’s 17-13 win over Luella, Turner ran the ball 19 times for 91 yards. He also had 1 reception for 8 yards. This season, Turner has scored two touchdowns and ran the ball 53 times for 319 yards. He is the team’s second leading rusher averaging 79.8 yards per game.

“Blake’s had four good weeks for us and it was finally one of those moments for him to showcase,” head coach David Cooper said. “He had to fill a spot at running back and be in on all our packages on Friday night. He really excelled at what he did in the game plan that week.”

Starr’s Mill is averaging 225.3 rushing yards per game. The team has started the season 4-0.

Starr’s Mill begins region play tonight against the Griffin Bears. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. tonight in Memorial Stadium.
