Tim Monihan and Farmers Insurance recognize senior volleyball captain Cora Harris as the fourth Player of the Week for the fall sports season.
“[Volleyball] taught me a lot of life skills,” Harris said. “How to communicate, how to agree with people I don’t share the same opinions with. I’ve learned how to pick up the slack and learn to let people help me.”
Harris has been playing volleyball since eighth grade. So far this season, Harris is averaging 1.9 kills per set and has 11 service aces for the season.
“Cora is a magnificent leader,” head coach Shayne Thompson said. “She is a calming presence. She’s a consistent player. We know she’s always going to be there.”
At the VolleyBrawl on August 24, Starr’s Mill finished second, losing in the championship match to Newnan. In a pair of matches on August 29, the Panthers defeated Whitewater 2-0 and lost to Northgate, 2-1.
