Tim Monihan and Farmers Insurance recognize freshman and starting pitcher Ryleigh Hill as the first Player of the Week for the fall sports season.
“I feel like being a freshman on varsity and being a starter, it is a lot of work,” Hill said. “I feel like I didn’t really crumble under the pressure of it.”
Hill has played softball for over a decade now, giving her fastpitch team a great advantage as a left handed pitcher. She puts great trust in her team while on defense and demonstrates teamwork and sportsmanship. Hill’s pitching has helped the Starr’s Mill softball team begin the season 5-0.
“She’s doing it both between dominating on the mound for us as a freshman and on the varsity level,” head coach Peyton Dean said. ‘She’s also doing it with the bat. With all of her average ranks, scoring position, and her RBIs right now, she is just doing a fantastic job and getting the job done.”
Last weekend, softball racked up three wins at the Callaway Classic in LaGrange. Earlier this week, the team came from behind in the bottom of the 7th inning to defeat McIntosh,7-6.
