Tim Monihan and Farmers Insurance recognize junior Jared Moore as the 13th Player of the Week for the spring sports season.
“He’s been consistent all year and he’s won the shot put and discus every week he’s competed at,” head coach Chad Walker said. “He works really hard at practice, and he’s a great example to the younger kids.”
Moore placed first in discus at the AAAA State Championship throwing 183 feet, 6 inches. He broke his own school record with this distance. He also placed first in shot put with a distance of 61 feet, 7.5 inches.
“It’s an honor and privilege to have been chosen! The team and I have been working really hard to perfect our craft. On the track and in the field events we have been working hard and the results show it,” Moore said. “This week at state we will depend on each other to perform to the best of our ability to potentially bring a trophy back home for Starr’s Mill.”
Girls track finished sixth place in the AAAA State Championship. Top finishers included juniors Mia Brown in the 400 meter race and Kali McQuade in the 800 meter race.
Led by Moore’s pair of state championships, boys track placed fifth overall.
