Tim Monihan and Farmers Insurance recognize Junior Tucker Hawkins as the eighth Player of the Week for the spring sports season.
“I’ve been playing since I was little,” Hawkins said. “I know we have a good team, and I just wanted to see how good we could get and how far we could go.”
Hawkins is a goalie for the Panther soccer team. Behind a strong defense, Hawkins only gave up three goals in region play.
“Tucker has had a fantastic season with his leadership and his play,” head coach Aaron Buck said. “He’s one of the top five goalkeepers in the state statistically this year due to his hard work and mental toughness.”
The boys soccer team went undefeated in region play and is 12-3-2 overall. The Panther outscored their region opponents 34-3 in seven games.
Last night, boys soccer defeated Hardaway 11-1 in the first round of the AAAA state playoffs. The team will host the winner of Benedictine and Griffin next week in the second round.
