Tim Monihan and Farmers Insurance recognize senior varsity basketball player Sunny McQuade as the third Player of the Week for the winter sports season.
“[This season I’ve improved] shooting wise. I feel confident with the ball,” McQuade said. “I actually want to score instead of passing off every time, so that’s definitely a plus.”
McQuade has shown dedication and hard work for the varsity girls basketball program all four years of her high school career. Head coach A.C. Atha nominated McQuade for her leadership and performance so far this season.
“Sunny has been playing really well lately. She had a double double the other day. She had 12 rebounds and 12 points, which is really hard to do,” Atha said. “She is just playing really well and being a great leader.”
Starr’s Mill beat Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe 57-43 this past Saturday. She was awarded the player of the game for her double double in the victory.
“She has become more confident and more of a vocal leader this year,” Atha said. “She also leads by example. She does all the right things so she is able to guide her teammates in that direction too.”
Starr’s Mill hosts McIntosh tonight at 6 p.m. followed by the varsity boys team.
