Tim Monihan and Farmers Insurance recognize senior running back Andersen Cardoza as the 21st Player of the Week for the 2023 fall sports season. This is his second time earning the award this season.

“His mental toughness has improved so much since last year,” head coach Chad Phillips said. “He played through adversity being hurt.”

On the season, Cardoza rushed for a total of 953 yards and averaged 73.3 yards a game. In the state semifinal game against Perry High School, Cardoza rushed for 16 yards and had 5 receptions for 67 yards and a touchdown.

“He had a really good game even with getting hurt on the first play of the game,” Phillips said. “He just went out there and weathered the storm.”

Despite losing 28-24, Cardoza and this Panthers team has been one for the history books. The program played its 300th game and won its 200th game. In addition, Panther football won the region for the 10th time and hosted its first state semifinal football game.
