Tim Monihan and Farmers Insurance recognize junior swimmer Seth Roach as the fifth Player of the Week for the 2020-2021 winter sports season.

“[Seth] is an excellent swimmer, but it’s all because he does the little things and puts in the work,” head coach Derek Abrams said. “He is also a great teammate.”

Roach placed first in three events at the county championships. He won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 50.86 seconds,10 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.

He finished the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 52.00 seconds. The 400-yard relay team with Roach, senior Michael Tucker, junior Samin Sayani, and sophomore Jimmy Callaghan finished first in 3 minutes, 23.44 seconds, 25 seconds faster than second place.

“You do not want to let people down,” Roach said.  “You want to win the [county] meet for the team and for the seniors.”

The boys team won with a total of 774 points. Whitewater finished second with 549 points. This was the 21st consecutive year Starr’s Mill has captured the county title.

The swim team will compete in the state swim meet on Feb. 3rd at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center. No spectators will be allowed due to COVID-19 regulations.
