Jahnvi Nakrani
Tim Monihan and Farmers Insurance recognize sophomore tennis player Jahnvi Nakrani as the ninth Player of the Week for the 2021 spring sports season.
“I feel like, after freshman year, we had sort of a rocky start, and so between freshman and sophomore year I trained a lot more, especially during quarantine, which meant I had a lot more time to practice and experience things with different players,” Nakrani said. “I feel like I had a sense of new experience.”
Nakrani plays doubles for the tennis team and worked hard in the offseason to improve. According to tennis head coach Amy Evert, Nakrani has bettered her skills this year, as opposed to last year.
“[Nakrani] is quick and agile and has some great net play,” said Evert. “She just stepped it up during regions week and got in there and played some great matches.”
The Lady Panthers finished 8-4 in regular season play. In region play, they finished 5-1 and headed into the playoffs as region runner-up to McIntosh.
With their recent playoff win over Union Grove, the Lady Panthers advanced to the AAAAA quarterfinals. They will play the winner of St. Pius and Grady.
