Cole Bishop
Tim Monihan and Farmers Insurance recognize senior strong safety Cole Bishop as the seventh Player of the Week for the 2020-2021 sports season.
“He brings a very unique physical ability and talent to the team,” head coach Philips said. “He’s one of our most talented players in the last ten years.”
Credit Bishop, who will play for Duke University next year, and the Starr’s Mill defense for the team’s three wins through four games so far this season. The team has held opponents to 158 rushing yards and 83.3 passing yards per game, while only surrendering 10.5 points per game.
Bishop has played on the varsity squad for four years. Phillips describes Bishop as a great team player and a great leader.
Last week, Starr’s Mill won a close contest against Sandy Creek, 10-7. Sandy Creek’s lone touchdown came on a 98-yard kickoff return. Starr’s Mill held the Patriots to only two first downs in the first half of the game.
“It was a team game,” Bishop said. “The whole defense has been doing really well.”
Starr’s Mill hosts Harris County on Oct. 9 to begin region play. Kick off is at 7:30 p.m.
