Tim Monihan and Farmers Insurance in Peachtree City awarded swimmer sophomore Bre Kozusko with the fifth Player of the Week award for winter sports.

Kozusko is a second-year swimmer for Starr’s Mill. At Whitewater, she placed fourth in the 50-yard freestyle and second in the 100-yard backstroke.

“I am really proud of Bre,” coach Robin Huggins said. “She is a leader on the team even as a tenth grader.”

Kozusko is within a fraction of a second of making her 50-yard freestyle cut time. She was nominated by coach Huggins for her performance at the Trojan Holiday Invitational swim meet. She placed second in the 50-yard freestyle, sixth place in the 200 medley relay and fourth place in the 400 freestyle relay. As a result, her points contributed to the girls’ victory.

I did not expect [this award],” Kozusko said. “I am very dedicated and I have a set goal I am working really hard on.”

The Starr’s Mill swim team’s next meet is at the County Championship in Clayton on Jan. 20.

“She has a positive attitude and a good work ethic,” Huggins said. “She loves swimming and she shares that with the other kids. She is a good individual swimmer [as well as] a good member of the team.”
