Last Thursday, the Starr’s Mill tennis season came to an end against Blessed Trinity. The boys lost 4-1, and the girls lost 3-1.
“In the playoffs and region tournament, this is definitely the best team we’ve seen so far,” head coach Amy Evert said. “I’m optimistic, but I am also realistic. These are tough matches.”
Although the competition became significantly more intimidating, the players of both the boys and girls teams were able to maintain a strong and resilient mindset going into the day’s games.
“We are all loyal, and we all want to cheer each other on,” sophomore Paul Heard said.
The players’ support for one another and unwavering sportsmanship shined in the playoff matches. Sophomore Brayden Nelson served as an example to his teammates.
“I model my game after [Nelson],” Heard said. “Even though he has a hurt wrist, it is inspiring that he can play through that.”
Blessed Trinity advances to play Marist in the third round of GHSA state playoffs.
