On Tuesday night, the varsity boys soccer team had a non-region game against Harrison High School. They lost the match, 8-0.
With both teams coming off of a loss from their latest games, the match was a toss-up going in. Unfortunately, Starr’s Mill was not able to pull through in this game.
“Harrison’s a good team and we knew that coming in,” head coach Aaron Buck said. “We knew we had to play almost perfect to get the result we wanted and that just didn’t happen.”
In the first half of the game, the team struggled to find consistency. Starr’s Mill trailed 4-0 at halftime.
“Although we lost, we got better as the game progressed and we learned how to defend them,” senior Andrew Schmidt said. “And with what we learned we’ll be able to know what to change and adjust.”
Harrison would score four more times in the second half en route to winning 8-0.
Despite the loss, both Starr’s Mill varsity teams hosted their annual senior night. All seniors were honored between the girls and boys games.
The boys who were honored were Tucker Hawkins, Zach Peavyhouse, Gavin Vu, Aiden Clary, Aaron Blair, Grant Ferron, Conner Miranda, Andrew Schmidt, Sean Wright, and Josh Harris.
The team is currently 6-8 overall, and their next game is against McIntosh tonight at 8 p.m. The Panthers host the first round of state playoffs on April 23.
