Junior avrsity girls lacrosse finished their season with a win against Lovett 14-2. The team’s final record was 9-2.
“We had a really strong eighth grade group that year, so we are looking at four of them and they were a very good core group,” head coach Tony Kluemper said. “The leaders of that are probably Maeve Walsh as an eighth grader and then also Morgan Blackwell.”
The girls saw great improvement in defense as the season went on, helping them to go on a seven-game winning streak. While the team was strong this year, they will continue to work in the off season.
“In the off season we do a lot of team bonding activities as well as we bring in a company called Lab Lax to do clinics with us,” Kluemper said.
The coaches set up opportunities for them to play in local rec leagues but also bring in Lax Lab to help them grow their skills. They work on themselves as individual players, and as a team. Some of the girls will play on travel teams together in the summer and fall, so they are better players and as a team when the season starts up again.
The varsity team will continue their season by traveling to play Alpharetta High School on April 16 at 7 p.m.
