JV boys soccer had a hard fought game, but lost 2-1 to the East Coweta Indians.
East Coweta went out hard and scored an early goal within the first two minutes of the match.
“Size and physicality was our biggest challenge,” head coach Nick Castagna said. “They got a bunch of giant sophomores and juniors on their team and we only have 9th and 10th graders.”
East Coweta kept possession over the ball for the majority of the first half, but the Panthers eventually broke through when 8th grader Lucas Buck tied the game. Sophomore Izaiah St. Dic assisted on the goal.
“We just got to find that first pass,” St. Dic said. “We got to improve our touch and just try to be better for the next game.”
East Coweta immediately put the pressure on at the start of the second half with a near goal in just the first minute but was saved by 8th grader Ishan Khushalani.
East Coweta kept building pressure, but the Starr’s Mill defense held strong and Khushalani refused to let any shots get past.
However, the Indians eventually broke through and scored with only eight minutes left in the contest.
“The team has really come together,” Castagna said. “We played a lot more physically compared to last game and just had the ball a lot more.”
This is the team’s second consecutive loss. JV boys play tonight at McIntosh. The game begins at 7:30 p.m.
