JV Girls basketball team hosted Carrollton in its final game of the season, losing 48-14. The team finished the season 11-1 overall.
The first half was a slow game for The Panthers. Carrollton led 22-3 at halftime.
Sophomore Ashley Anne French ignited the Starr’s Mill offense in the third quarter scoring 7 points.
“We didn’t respond to all calls,” French said. “We got in our heads.”
The girls were shown their weakness, not just as a team but also as individual players. Some of these weaknesses are not listening to other players’ calls and missing lay-ups.
Despite being undefeated going into the last game of the season, the 48-14 loss demonstrated where the team needs to improve before next season.
“I think you set them up to, you know, you got to stay hungry and humble at the same time,” head coach Peyton Dean said. “There’s a difference in confidence and cockiness.”
The team may have ended in a loss, but the girls are sharpening their skills to live up to this year’s team motto, “Stay hungry and humble.”
Varsity girls basketball wraps up its regular season on February 7 as they host Northside-Columbus on senior night. The team is currently second in the region.
