As the Starr’s Mill JV boys basketball season approaches its end, the Panthers faced off against long-time rival, McIntosh. While the Panthers had a solid start, they quickly began falling behind and never managed to recover.
“We’ve stuck together through it all,” sophomore Dane Each said.
At the end of the first quarter, the Panthers trailed 15-7.hile the second quarter started with the only 3-pointer scored by the Panthers in the game, that steam was quickly lost as the McIntosh lead grew. At the end of the second quarter, the score was 23-12 in favor of the Chiefs.
“Well, there’s been a lot of ups and downs,” freshman Maddox Ware said.
The team struggled to gather momentum and find rhythm throughout the game. In the fourth quarter, the team relied mostly on free throws to score points. With 95 seconds to play, the Panthers managed their first points not from the free throw line.
The Panthers face off at home against the Jackson Red Devils on January 29.
