Junior varsity softball finished their season with a 3-2 win over Whitewater. The final record for the team was 3-5.
“Our girls are learning that not only is it physical but it has a lot to do with mental toughness and coming together as a team,” head coach Ashley Smith said.
The girls saw the biggest improvement in defense. Throughout the season, the team struggled with playing through all five innings and keeping pace with the other team. Once they started to work as one, they got to the point where they could finish a whole game.
“We will continue to work on improving our mental game and knowledge of the game,” Smith said.
JV softball has already started to set goals for next season, including understanding the mental side of the game.
While the JV season has ended, varsity is still in region play. The Panthers host Jonesboro tonight at 5:30 p.m. They will honor their senior players before the game.
