Varsity girls lacrosse is advancing to the final four again after a win against the Bears, 21-3. The Lady Panthers came and ended strong, securing an unbeatable lead by halftime.
“We played a full 48-minute game. We’ve had a little bit of a third quarter slump the last few games. It was nice to play a full game,” head coach Tony Kluemper said. “We also got to play a lot of different girls and a lot of different positions.”
Top scorers included senior Sunny McQuade and freshman Anna Moran.
In the first quarter, Starr’s Mill dominated the field, scoring six goals. The Lady Panthers scored another six in the second quarter and only allowed one.
With a score in the double digits by halftime, many of the Panther starters sat out for portions of the second half. Even with them taking a break, the Panthers won 21-3.
“I think we all did amazing,” senior Samantha Corkill said. “We did our best, and we won by a lot.”
The girls were able to show off the depth of their team as well as their ability to control the field. They now advance to the semifinals for the third time in the last four years. Starr’s Mill plays at Wesleyan at 5 p.m. on May 3.
