Last night, McIntosh maintained possession and poise on the way to a 3-0 win over Starr’s Mill.
“It’s not fun to lose, but we put up a good fight,” junior Tucker Hawkins said. “They were just unfortunate goals.”
From the beginning of the game, McIntosh dominated the field controlling possession and tempo.
McIntosh’s Jackson Awtry put the Chiefs on the board first.
With only a few minutes left in the half, McIntosh continued to control the pace of the game. Matthew Yi scored with a penalty shot to put the Chiefs up 2-0 at halftime.
“We gotta heal up,” head coach Aaron Buck said. ”We had eight players on the bench by the end of this game with injury or illness.”
Going into the second half, Starr’s Mill began to put up more of a fight. They managed to take control of the ball, and drive it to McIntosh’s goal. However, the Panthers could not get on the scoreboard.
On McIntosh’s side, pressure from Starr’s Mill made it more difficult to score until Amon Tomaro scored a header and put the Chiefs up 3-0.
“The thing about this team is that they have a lot of character,” Buck said. ”They play hard for each other.”
