Both tennis teams were victorious earlier this week in matches against Whitewater. The boys team moved to 5-1 in region play, and the girls improved to 4-2.
“We had a lot of youth playing in the Whitewater game. I think especially Brayden Nelson helped our team a lot,” sophomore Matthew Wysong said. “He was playing in singles 2 and he won a good strong match against the kid.”
Line 2 singles freshman Brayden Nelson and line 1 doubles Matthew Wysong and Alex Ruiz helped the guys to a win over Whitewater. Wysong and Ruiz won 6-3, 6-4.
“[Senior Oliver Wysong] loves a crowd, so down or up, he loves to have people pumping him up or cheering for him,” head coach Amy Evert said. “He is great with the spirit of the team.”
The girls defeated Whitewater 5-0. Senior Vaishnavi Jayakumar, playing line 1 singles, and sophomore Tatijana Taylor, playing line 2 singles, led the team.
The boys record improves to 6-4 on the season and 5-1 in region. The girls record improved to 5-5 overall and 4-2 in region play. Both teams play McIntosh on March 26 at the Peachtree City Tennis Center.
