Earlier this week, JV girls lacrosse dominated the field against Whitewater, winning 19-0.
Following a goal within the first 30 seconds of the game by eighth grader Taylor Gates, the Lady Panthers never let up as the Lady Wildcats were outmatched.
“I think we played very well,” head coach Tony Kluemper said. “We had a lot of girls get in the game, a lot of girls who don’t usually get to score a lot get to score and play positions they don’t usually get to play.”
Ten different players scored for Starr’s Mill. Eighth graders Andi McQuade and Mia Marshall led the team with four goals each.
“We had a lot of communication and we all played [..] off each other, so we did pretty good overall,” McQuade said.
In the first half, Starr’s Mill secured a substantial lead, posting six goals in each quarter. The Lady Panthers led 12-0 at halftime.
“We’re working on mostly ground balls, talking and sliding [in practice],” Marshall said.
In the second two quarters, the girls continued to dominate. Many of the starters were taken out of the game, and different girls were given a chance to score. The Panthers scored seven more times in the final half, winning the game in a shutout, 19-0.
“Our main strength is we can play all sides of the ball. We have positives in defense and offense and [midfielder],” Kleumper said. “Probably our main weakness is communication.”
Starr’s Mill earned its second win of the week Tuesday night, defeating McIntosh 12-0. They travel to Walton tonight for a 7:30 p.m. game.
