Flag football season is over for most of the players, except for seniors Jae Ardoin and Carsen McEver. Both players have been chosen to participate in the annual all-star game.
“All of our players have improved at the game since last year, but the stats for Jae and Carsen were at the top for our team,” head coach Mark Williamson said. “Jae had a great year last year and made 2nd Team All Area. [She] just picked up this year where she left off last year. Carsen was a first-year player and just understood her role as a cornerback and did an amazing job for a first-year starter.”
This is the second year of the flag football program, and the first time ever sending any players to the all-star game.
“We have developed pretty well because last year it was just going with the flow of everything, but this year we had more structure to everything we did,“ Ardoin said. “We still had some troubles here and there, but I just feel like the program overall did better.”
The Panthers were 9-9 overall and 2-3 in region play this year. They were eliminated from playoff contention on November 14 after a 20-6 loss to East Coweta.
“I really enjoy sports and sports in general, so I have played three sports in high school,” McEver said.”Flag football seemed like a sport where everyone would have time to play.”
The all-star game will feature the best of the best in flag football from around the state. Sponsored by Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, the game is held on December 16 in Flowery Branch, Georgia.
