Prior to Thanksgiving break, the Starr’s Mill and McIntosh swim teams held a dual meet at Kedron Aquatic Center. The girls team defeated McIntosh, but the boys team and the team overall lost.
“The big thing about the meet with McIntosh is that we had four guys out and the boys team is 16 guys, so we didn’t have the depth and the bodies to make up the difference in the points,” swim head coach Derek Abrams said.
During the meet, the girls beat McIntosh with faster times and better technique. With their wins they helped Starr’s Mill win the duel meet and showed why they placed so well at last year’s Paw Power Invitational.
Senior Carter Heim fought hard during his 200-yard race, winning by a narrow margin.
“I feel like my turns can get quicker as the season goes on and my underwater kicks can get stronger,” Heim said.
The Panthers face Fayette County and Sandy Creek on December 1 at Kedron.
