Competition cheer competed for the region championship at Starr’s Mill on November 4. The team finished second to Whitewater High School.
“From July to now we’ve definitely had a lot of things that have gone wrong, but we haven’t let that stop us,” freshman Kira Cantilla said. “We’ve definitely grown not just in our team but as a team together.”
LaGrange High school placed fourth and Troup County earned third. They advanced to state along with Starr’s Mill and Whitewater.
“We’ve managed to be one or two all season going into regions,” head coach Mandy Ratliff said. “We have lost a lot of girls to injuries and had a lot of adversities and we’ve been able to progress through it and come out stronger.”
Throughout the season, Starr’s Mill earned wins at South Forsyth, Whitewater, and Calhoun competitions.
“The season has definitely had our ups and downs, but our performance today was probably one of our best performances this season and just the growth is crazy,” senior Alyssa Kroskey said.
The Panthers advance to state for the 13th time in school history.
