Seven seniors return to lead this year’s varsity volleyball team.
“I have high expectations with that many returners,” volleyball head coach Shayne Thompson said. “I’m thinking we are going to do really well.”
Volleyball practice throughout the summer in preparation for the 2023 season. In addition, the team attended camp at Georgia Tech, which provided them with valuable feedback going into the season.
“We are working on running some more advanced plays,” Thompson said. “We are also working on getting some good passes [and] moving our feet.”
Varsity volleyball finished second in the region last year. They look to improve upon a 14-23 overall record.
“The problem I have is trying to figure out how to get playing time for 14 players who are all excellent and very talented players,” Thompson said.
The team started the season last night with a pair of wins over Houston County and Troup County. Starr’s Mill hosts Woodward and Newnan tomorrow night starting at 5:30 p.m.
