During the Saturday afternoon game against McIntosh, senior Jaclyn Hester made history, breaking the school’s all-time scoring record.

“It wasn’t just me by myself, [it was] four years of hard work,” Hester said. “I couldn’t have done it without my coaches and teammates.”

Hester broke the record after scoring 17 points in the 48-33 loss to the Lady Chiefs. The previous mark was set by Alice Anne Hudson at 1,602 points.

Hudson, a class of 2020 graduate, broke the girls’ record in early 2019 as a junior. She would then surpass her brother, Drew Hudson, her senior year for all-time leading scorer.

“You don’t often hear many people breaking a thousand points,” head coach Emily Sweeney said. “We have four total in history so having them keep breaking each other’s records is pretty impressive.”

Earlier this season, Hester also broke Alice Anne’s single-game scoring record, setting a new mark at 36 points.

In last night’s home game against Griffin, Hester scored 11 points, increasing the current record to 1,616 points and counting.
