Tim Monihan and Farmers Insurance in Peachtree City awarded senior baseball player Mitchell Sutton as the seventh Player of the Week for the spring sports season. Sutton has played Starr’s Mill baseball for four years and lettered the past three.

“It’s an honor being chosen for player of the week,” Sutton said. “All of the hard work and practices pay off.”

Sutton has pitched in every game, helping the Panthers to another 20-win season. The Panthers ended the season 20-8 overall, 17-1 in region play.

“Sutton is one of our four pitchers and he gets a lot of playing time because he’s so consistent,” varsity head coach Brent Moseley said. “He’s a great player and deserves this award.”

Sutton has a 62.0% strike percentage and a 55.4 quality-at-bat percentage. In the game against Harris County on senior night, Sutton hit one deep into left field bringing senior Dawson Sweatt home for a run. Panthers won 8-7 in the bottom of the 7th.

“The thing about Sutton is that he’s always calm. He’s not a hot-head and he knows what he’s doing,” Moseley said. “His consistency is the result.”

The regular season ended with the win against Harris County. Region 3-AAAAA champions Starr’s Mill hosts Union Grove on April 26 at the Panther Field in the first round of GHSA state playoffs.
