Coltin Houser
Tim Monihan of Farmers Insurance in Peachtree City presented senior Coltin Houser with the year’s first Farmers Insurance Player of the Week award.
Houser, a defensive end for the Panthers, had a breakout performance in week one of the football team’s ten game season. Recording three tackles for loss, two solo tackles, two quarterback hurries, and four assisted tackles, Newnan’s offensive line had their hands full for four quarters.
“I just went out there and tried to make a difference,” Houser said. “I decided to not hold back and just push until the final whistle.”
Playing an important role in Starr’s Mill’s 40-13 victory, Houser and the rest of the defense came up with stop after stop. As the Panthers only gave up a total of 203 yards on the night and two early touchdowns, it was clear that once the defense had settled in, there was no stopping the Mill.
“We came out with some nerves but after they put two in early, we came together and began to play our game instead of theirs,” Houser said. “After last year’s game with Newnan, there was no way we were going to let them keep finding the endzone.”
In his fourth year with the team, Houser has shown steady improvement throughout his time with the Panthers.
“Coltin is one of those players that has unlimited potential, all the immeasurables, and all of the athleticism in the world,” Phillips said. “He was on a big stage Friday night, and he put it all together.”
