The Panthers’ 5-0 semifinal round loss to Houston County Wednesday night was a fluke, sophomore Jahmeil Curwen said.
“We didn’t play to our full potential,” Curwen said. “It was kind of a disappointment, but we tried to battle back toward the end of the game.”
Head soccer coach Mike Hanie said he believes his team lost because they were physically and mentally tired, causing them to not play well.
Sophomore Anthony Hoelle said he believes the team was not mentally prepared.
“We were not really ready because we played on a practice field, which kind of threw everyone off. They were not a team that is five goals better than we are.”
Even though the Panthers did not reach the championship game, Curwen said he thinks it is incredible that they made it this far with such a young team and will be back next year.
