The members of the Panther cross country team had their best race of the season at the Region 4-AAAAA Championship last Saturday at the Heritage course, which qualified them for the state meet this Saturday in Carrollton.
Senior Nicole Chrzanowski finished ninth overall with another new personal record of 20:01.
“It is good to see that both teams made state again this year,” Chrzanowski said. “I am also happy to see another new personal record at the end of the season.”
Junior James Adams finished fourth overall with a time of 16:28, another new personal record.
“Before the race I was a little nervous,” Adams said, “but I began to feel more confident during the race.”
Senior Kendall Taylor finished her final cross country season strong with a win in the junior varsity race with a time of 21:13.
“It is very cool that I won my last cross country race,” Taylor said. “That is a good memory to have.”
The boys’ varsity team finished runner-up in the region and the girls’ varsity finished third out of five teams.
“Both teams finished better than they have in past years,” head cross country coach Diane Ruane said. “It is a testament to how hard the team has been working this season.”
The Panthers run at the state meet beginning at 1 p.m.
