The Lady Panthers suffered a disappointing loss at the hands of their rivals, McIntosh, in their Final Four state playoff meeting Wednesday at McIntosh
The Panthers were hoping for a different outcome after losing to the Chiefs in September, but that is not what happened. The Chiefs won all three sets, 25-19, 25-10, and 25-19.
“McIntosh brought their A-game. I wish we could have fought harder,” junior spiker Diana Enriquez said.
The Chiefs will face Whitewater, who defeated Lakeside Wednesday night, in the championship game at 5:30 p.m. Monday at McEachern High School.
The trip to the playoffs was a pleasant ending to a nearly .500 season with a 25-26 overall record, 6-5 in their tough region.
The AAAAA championship game will be tough considering Whitewater has a 52-3 record and McIntosh is 48-5. McIntosh will be looking for revenge after losing three matchups against the Wildcats, including the Area 4-AAAAA championship Oct. 13.
