People say whatever goes around comes back around. An eye for an eye for example. How far are you willing to go to make sure that this actually happens? If someone hurts you or wrongs you, will you deliberately try to take revenge or will you stand by and wait for “Karma” to take its course?
“Karma,” by Summer Walker, was released on October 19, 2018, on her first album, “Last Day of Summer.” Her song talks about the revelation between forgiving someone but still wishing them the worst that you believe they deserve.
The song tells the story of a woman who approaches a man and gets in a relationship with the intention of causing him the same suffering and heartache that he had inflicted on his past girlfriends. She reminds him that her purpose in being with him is to “do her job” as “Karma,” and that she owes him neither sympathy or love. She talks about being “Karma” for all the women who have been wronged in a relationship.
Summer Walker uses the lyrics “You never thought the universe would be looking for revenge” to explain how most people do not think about consequences. She reflects how people’s actions will always come back to haunt them no matter how long they take. She describes herself as being “Karma” and having no feelings attached. She reiterates this again by singing, “You’ll wanna love me strong, then I’m gone, This feeling’s just for you and your wrongs, I am just here to do my job.”
Summer Walker is an R&B singer and songwriter. She was brought up in Atlanta and she began singing in 2013 when she released her first song titled “Material Thing.” In 2017 she signed with the label Love Renaissance. Her song “Girls Need Love” was on this album and gained her a great deal of popularity, especially after a remix was made with famous rapper Drake.
You can listen to “Karma” by Summer on all streaming platforms.
