Freshman Chloe Harville is currently listening to “Deja Vu” by Beyoncé.
“I like this song because it’s very catchy and fun to dance to,” Harville said.
“Deja Vu” is a quick, powerful song that describes a strange feeling of experiencing something that has already happened. Beyoncé uses a mix of bass guitar, hi-hats, and drums to portray the song’s melody.
“Deja Vu” is popular due to how emotionally Beyoncé sings in the second half. Beyoncé describes the feeling of beginning so in love with a person that you feel their presence wherever you go, similar to the feeling of deja vu.
“Deja Vu” was released on June 13, 2006, as a part of Beyoncé’s album “B’Day,” quickly topping the Billboard 100. Beyoncé performed “Deja Vu” during the 2006 BET awards. The performance was a viral sensation. From “Deja Vu” Beyoncé was able to win Best Song at the MOBO Awards in the UK.
Born on September 4, 1981, Beyoncé has won 35 Grammys and has been nominated 99 times. Additionally, Beyoncé became the first Black woman to win a Grammy for “Best Country Album” at the 2025 Grammy awards.
“This song reminds me of fun and [ like ] enjoying myself,” Harville said.
