Health teacher Charles Cheek is listening to “On One Tonight” by Gunna. 

“I like the energy,” Cheek said.

This song does a great job of portraying the feelings of people putting you down, and it just motivates you to do better. The catchy beat and fast lyrics set this song apart from others. Gunna is not mad or trying to get revenge in this song. It is about bettering him as a person. 

Gunna’s music is mostly about his life and the challenges he has overcome. He does not talk about his life in a sad way, but as something he has grown from. His unique skills as a lyricist help him to convey his emotions in his music. 

The R&B inspiration adds an interesting, unexpected twist to his rap that helped him to win a Grammy for best Rap Song in 2023. “Pushin P” was the song that won him the highly sought after award. 

“I think a lot of people don’t give him credit,” Cheek said, “ He’s from Atlanta, so I like to support local artists.”
