April 14, 2022
Senior Ella Stadelmeyer is listening to Frank Sinatra’s classic, “When You’re Smiling.” The song was featured in his 1961 album “Sinatra’s Swingin’ Session!!!”
“No matter how you’re feeling, it always puts you in a good mood because of the vibe the music gives off,” Stadelmeyer said.
The song is about, well, smiling. It is a very cheery song, telling the listener to always stay smiling and be happy. The lyrics also say being down all the time causes others around you to feel down, so it benefits everyone if you are joyful.
“I also love the sound of a big brass band,” Stadelmeyer said. “It gives me serotonin.”
Frank Sinatra is considered one of the best singers of all time and is very well known. Born in 1915, Sinatra started music at a young age, and learned music by ear instead of reading it. Sinatra had his big debut in 1935, when he performed with the 3 Flashes.
Some of his most famous songs include “My Way,” “Strangers In the Night,” and “New York, New York.” He has also won 11 Grammy awards, four Golden Globe awards, and even got a music star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“When You’re Smiling” is a cheerful and wonderful song, and can leave anyone with a smile.
