Senior Riley Gibbas recently watched the 2019 version of “Little Women.”
“Little Women” follows the March sisters Jo, Amy, Meg, and Beth, in the late 19th century. All the sisters have separate lives and their own struggles and have mostly lost connection. When Beth becomes sick, news of the illness brings all the sisters back together. The movie alternates between the present and past timeline and compares how the sisters have grown over the years.
Greta Gerwig directed the film. Gerwig is known for her many coming of age films promoting the lives and growth of women. Some of her biggest films include “Barbie” and “Lady Bird.” Some notable actors in the film are Saorise Ronan who has been in other films like “Lady Bird,” and Emma Watson who is mainly known for her role as Hermione in the Harry Potter films.
What did you enjoy about this film?
“I enjoyed the direction of the movie,” Gibbas said. “The characters were very thought out and developed.”
What motivated you to watch this film?
“My mom wanted to watch it, so I watched it with her,” Gibbas said.
What was the most memorable part of this film?
“The dialogue was very well written, and the characters portrayed it really well,” Gibbas said.
How is this film different to others you have watched?
“It was a little more artsy,” Gibbas said.
What other films similar to this would you recommend?
“Probably something like ‘Lady Bird’, because they have the same director,” Gibbas said.
