Senior Jasmine Spence has recently watched the movie “Friday.”
The movie’s plot all takes place on one particular Friday. Craig Jones, played by famous rapper Ice Cube, finds himself in distress after he loses his job due to stealing cardboard boxes. Not only that, but he has to pay rent that same day with no income. In addition, his girlfriend is annoying him about everything. To complicate everything even more, his best friend owes drug dealers money. Throughout the movie, it goes through them trying to figure out what to do all in one Friday.
Steve Carr, F. Gary Gray, and Marcus Raboy directed the film. They also have directed other films such as “Men in Black,” “Are We Done Yet?,” and “Daddy Day Care.”
What do you enjoy about this film?
“You can watch it literally every day and not get tired of it,” Spence said.
What motivated you to watch this film?
“I saw my brother watching it and liked it ever since,” Spence said.
How is this film different from the others you have watched?
“This film is different because it doesn’t try too hard to represent the hood,” Spence said. “It’s not forced and it’s funny.”
What other films are similar that you would recommend?
“I would recommend ‘Men in Black’ or ‘Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood,’ Spence said.
