Sophomore Zoe Karen’s favorite TV series is “Grey’s Anatomy.”
This show highlights the personal and professional lives of surgical advisors and their interns through a hooking drama. “Grey’s Anatomy” centers around Meredith Grey, daughter of top surgeon Dr. Ellis Grey, as she follows in his footsteps through the medical field.
Ellen Pompeo, Patrick Dempsey, Justin Chambers, Sandrah Oh, Eric Dane, and Chyler Leigh are just some of the stars in the cast. Shonda Rhimes wrote and directed the show.
What did you enjoy about this series?
“There’s a lot of drama and ups and downs,” Karen said. “Sometimes you want to cry and scream that your favorite person is now dead, but sometimes there’s like a new person and you’re like. ‘That’s really fun’.”
What motivated you to watch this series?
“My sister started watching it when she was like 14 or 15 and sometimes I would watch it with her. In 8th grade I started really watching it, and it’s been my favorite show ever since,” Karen said.
What was the most memorable part of this series?
“Definitely the plane crash,” Karen said. “Or when there was a mass shooter in the hospital and the new people who had just come from an old hospital came and he shot almost all of them.”
How is this series different from others that you have watched?
“It’s not super different because there’s archetypes that bring in different patterns from different TV shows. So there’s a similar baseline from lots of different things but the way the characters are formed and their character development is what keeps you wanting to watch more,” Karen said.
What other series or films similar to this one would you recommend?
“‘The Good Doctor’ is similar but they are different because one is about an autistic doctor but they both follow drama in the hospital,” Karen said. “I’ve also heard that ‘New Amsterdam’ is good following these doctors and their relationships.
“Grey’s Anatomy” already has 19 seasons and is expected to soon be releasing the 20th season sometime in the next year. The series can be streamed on multiple platforms, including Prime Video, Netflix, Vudu, and Apple TV.
