English teacher Terence Fitzgerald watched the movie “Oppenheimer.”
“Oppenheimer” follows the story of historical figure J. Robert Oppenheimer, a physicist who led the Manhattan Project to create the atomic bomb. The film takes place in the period of WWII.
Big-name actors Robert Downey Jr., Cillian Murphy, Florence Pugh, and Emily Blunt are featured in the film, mainly starring Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer. The film is directed by Christopher Nolan.
What did you enjoy about this film/series?
“I really liked it, it was really interesting,” Fitzgerald said. “I learned a lot of information about this important American figure that I didn’t know beforehand and it went places I didn’t expect it to go.”
What motivated you to watch this film/series?
“I follow anything that Nolan does,” Fitzgerald said. “So this was just another film [of his] that was coming out and I try to go see them in theaters.”
What was the most memorable part of this film/series?
“Definitely when the bomb dropped,” Fitzgerald said. “Just the imagery of it and the bright light and the intense sound especially in the theater. It was a very enthralling experience and you really felt all the emotions they were feeling at that time.”
How is this film/series different from others that you have watched?
“What made this film stand out to me was the direction, and sheer power of cinematography on display,” Fitzgerald said. “‘Oppenheimer’ was different, and I think it will be a film that will be studied for years to come.”
What other films similar to this one would you recommend?
“That’s tough because it was such a unique experience both as a biopic and a Christopher Nolan film,” Fitzgerald said. “As a jumping out point to Nolans filmography, ‘Dunkirk,’ that’s a great film.”
